New Communities Supports

Empower employs a Community Engagement Worker to specifically target members of New Communities and ethnic minorities in collaboration with the Balbriggan Integration Forum. We have supported individuals from New Communities and ethnic minorities to complete the QQI Level 6 “Leadership in an Intercultural Community” course to build enhanced skills and capacity in community development.

Fáilte Isteach are conversational English classes taught at Empower by local volunteers. Students come from countries around the world and classes are taught in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and give migrants the language skills needed for day-to day communication. We provide Fáilte Isteach classes in a range of Fingal locations including Blakestown, Coolmine, Ongar, and Swords. Participants in the classes gain confidence to actively participate in other community groups as a result of taking part.
